From a thought to useful words

Start with one idea. Give it room to develop, keep the wording that works, and use it in your next message.

This guide describes the TextTiles version being prepared for release. The walkthrough uses the iPhone and iPad workspace and a fictional Cedar workshop.

Choose a starting point

Notes: original writing
Keep a rough thought, longer draft, or observation.
Canvas: words and pictures together
Arrange independent board text, selected pictures, and snapshots from Notes or Library.
Library: wording worth using again
Save an editable tile, such as an introduction, project update, useful passage, or reply.
Create and Compose: develop and assemble
Write a tile manually in Create, explore optional wording alternatives on eligible devices, or combine saved tiles in Compose.

You can use any of these on its own. You do not need to move every idea through the whole workspace.

Try the Cedar workshop workflow

  1. Capture the plan in Notes. Write: “The Cedar workshop outline is ready. Choose two examples and check the handout before Friday.” Keep developing the original here.
  2. See the pieces on Canvas. Create a board, add a passage from the Note and a picture you own, then add board text: “Two examples, one clear takeaway.” Arrange them to work out the direction. The placed passage is a snapshot; the Note stays separate.
  3. Save wording worth repeating. Return to the Note and save a useful passage as a Library tile. Edit that tile into “The Cedar workshop outline is ready, and the examples are taking shape.” Save another tile for the next step: “I’ll share the final handout on Friday.” Saving a tile is a deliberate action, not an automatic conversion of the Note.
  4. Compose the update. Open Create → Compose a message. Select those two tiles, review their order and the exact preview, and copy the finished message. If you use fields, check their values before copying.
  5. Reuse a tile where you write. Enable the TextTiles keyboard in iOS Settings and insert a saved tile in a compatible app. Allow Full Access can stay off. The keyboard inserts saved text; the combined message is copied from Compose in the main app.

Keep sources and snapshots clear

A Note holds original writing, a Library tile is a separately editable saved passage, and a Canvas placement is a snapshot. Removing a placement does not delete its source. Use View source to open original writing, then Refresh from source when you want the board snapshot to catch up.

Share board text shares words, not a picture or PDF of the board’s arrangement.

On Mac

The native Mac app provides Library, Compose, search, and menu-bar copying. Choose Compose in Library to assemble saved sections. Notes, Canvas, Create, and the insertion keyboard belong to the iPhone and iPad app. The native Mac purchase is separate from mobile full access.

Start a trial deliberately

The planned mobile download is free. Open Access, choose Start 7-day trial and confirm Apple’s zero-cost purchase to start seven days of access. There is no automatic charge or subscription. Continue creating with a separate one-time purchase at the price displayed in the app.

After the trial ends, your existing work remains readable, copyable, and exportable. Creation, editing, importing, generation, and Compose need active access. Restore Purchases restores eligible access from the original purchase; it does not restart a trial.

Help with trial and purchases

Keep a copy of your work

Export Library, Notes, and Canvas separately using their backup tools. A Library backup does not include Notes or Canvas. Keep backups somewhere you control, especially before resolving a sync or storage problem.
