TextTiles Privacy Policy

How TextTiles handles information, with confirmed source behavior and open release questions.

Developer and scope

AJ Cortez (Armando J. Cortez) develops TextTiles as an independent software project. This app-specific draft does not cover Veyra Sky, which maintains its own infrastructure at veyrasky.com.

Your writing and saved content

TextTiles saves Library tiles, Notes, and Canvas boards locally. Canvas may include text, snapshots of tiles or Notes, and pictures you select with the system photo picker. Notes and Canvas are iPhone and iPad features.

There is no separate TextTiles account. When iCloud is available, supported saved content and selected Canvas pictures synchronize through separate areas of your private Apple CloudKit database using the Apple Account on your device. iCloud sync is optional. Apple receives this content for synchronization; it does not go to a TextTiles-operated server. The developer cannot view your private database content in CloudKit Console.

The inspected app has no advertising, tracking, analytics, or third-party crash-reporting service, and no Supabase or other developer-operated content database. No purchase or subscription integration was found in the inspected source. These statements must be checked against the final release configuration.

Writing assistance and drafts

Create uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models for optional writing assistance on eligible devices with Apple Intelligence enabled. It does not use a cloud-model fallback or send your thoughts to a TextTiles server. Manual writing remains available when assistance is unavailable.

Unsaved thoughts, candidates, and revisions stay in memory by default. Keep draft on this device saves one protected local checkpoint, excluded from backups, exports, the keyboard snapshot, and iCloud. Turning draft keeping off or confirming a new thought removes it. Only an explicit Add or Save changes action puts accepted writing into the Library’s normal storage and sync paths.

TextTiles does not record audio or request microphone or speech-recognition permission. System keyboard dictation follows your keyboard and operating-system settings. Local unhelpful-result flags do not upload your writing.

Keyboard, clipboard, photos, and files

The TextTiles keyboard reads a device-local snapshot of selected Library tiles shared by the containing app. It does not require Full Access. Notes and Canvas do not enter the keyboard unless you deliberately save wording as a Library tile and include it.

Copy actions write selected text to the system clipboard. On Mac, Use Copied Text reads the clipboard when you choose it. Imported and exported backups use files you select with the system file picker. Selected photos may be retrieved from iCloud by Apple before import.

Library, Notes, and Canvas backups are separate. Local safety copies and damaged recovery files can contain older writing. Exported backups, images, and PDFs remain wherever you save or share them; recipients and destinations have their own data practices.

Retention and deletion

Library tiles remain until deleted. Synced deletion reaches other devices when they reconnect. Removing the app from one device does not delete private iCloud data or previously exported files.

Deleted Notes and Canvas boards remain in Recently Deleted for 30 days. When the app next opens or syncs after expiry, their active records become content-free deletion markers to prevent offline copies from restoring deleted content. Expired Canvas content is also removed from its last-good backup, and unreferenced local pictures are removed. Damaged recovery files can retain older content until the app’s local data is removed.

Important current limitation: orphaned Canvas picture records can remain indefinitely in private iCloud. This version does not automatically remove those records. Deleting a board does not delete its source tile or Note.

On iPhone or iPad, Library & Settings → Data Management → Delete Library Everywhere clears the synced Library and its local safety/recovery copies after confirmation. On Mac, use Settings → iCloud Sync → Delete Synced Library. These controls affect Library only; they do not delete Notes, Canvas, or their separate iCloud areas. Previously exported files must be deleted separately.

Content-free deletion markers, sync metadata, and an Apple Account record identifier can remain locally and in private iCloud to prevent deleted Library content from returning. If cleanup cannot finish immediately after a Library deletion commits, uploads remain blocked while cleanup is retried.

Support correspondence

If you email support, your email provider and the support inbox process your address, message, and anything you choose to attach so AJ can respond. Opening the app’s support link does not automatically attach writing or coding content. Inbox access, retention, and deletion rules still need confirmation.

Before this policy is finalized

  • Confirm the exact submitted version matches these storage, sync, keyboard, and on-device AI behaviors, with no additional SDKs, telemetry, purchases, or remote APIs.
  • Confirm whether the release keeps the disclosed indefinite retention of orphaned Canvas pictures in private iCloud or changes that behavior before submission.
  • Confirm that the professional contact inbox is monitored for app support, who can access support messages, and its retention and deletion rules.

Policy updates

This page will be updated when release behavior is confirmed or changes. The finalized policy and App Store privacy answers must describe the same submitted build and operated services.
